Cordial invitation to the IZeF anniversary celebration on 13 June 2024
On 13 June 2024 at 2 pm, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Empirical Teacher and Classroom Research (IZeF) at the University of Cologne will be celebrating its 10th anniversary! Under the motto "It's the teacher and their teaching that counts. Ten years of empirical profession and teaching research at the IZeF of the University of Cologne" we cordially invite you to celebrate this together with us in Cologne!
For the anniversary celebration, we have put together a varied programme with external and internal researchers from the context of the IZeF. We look forward to celebrating the anniversary with exciting lectures, discussions and in dialogue with you in a festive setting.
Please use the registration form on our homepage to register for the event. Participation in the anniversary celebration is free of charge, but places are limited.

The latest IZeF biennial report (2022/2023) has been published!
The report describes in detail the diverse areas of activity of the IZeF as a scientific institution of the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Cologne, including all IZeF research groups and active research projects, various programmes and the work of the IZeF.

Report on the ZuS teacher education monitoring graduate study on the BMBF homepage
In ZuS project, Quality Assurance field of action, the established monitoring of teacher training was expanded to include an important component as part of the graduate study. The graduate report finalised in February 2023 focuses on the questions of what skills students at the University of Cologne have at the end of the standard period of study and what changes in skills can be observed during their studies. The BMBF is now also reporting on this as part of the teacher training quality campaign.

Dear ladies and gentlemen, Dear colleagues,
Next year, the IZeF will be celebrating its tenth anniversary as an academic institution of the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Cologne. We would like to celebrate this with you at an anniversary celebration on 13th June 2024 from approx 14:00-19:00 in the New Seminar Building of the University of Cologne! We are currently putting together a varied programme with exciting lectures but also time for socialising and celebrating. Please make a note of the date in your diary! You will receive the final programme later. Informal registration is now possible by e-mail. We are already looking forward to celebrating the anniversary with you!
Approval of the Emerging Group ER-TEC: "Empirical research on teacher training at the University of Cologne: Proof of the effectiveness of teacher training"
We are delighted that the application for the establishment of an Emerging Group on the topic of "Empirical Research on Teacher Education at the University of Cologne (ER-TEC): Proving the Effectiveness of Teacher Education" has been successfully approved as part of the University of Cologne's Excellent Research Support Programme.
The team of applicants from the context of teacher education, consisting of professors from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Mercator Institute and the IZeF, was successful in two rounds of applications and was approved at the beginning of December. The Emerging Group was approved for three years and will research the effectiveness of teacher education within the framework of two overarching questions.
